How to choose the right bike for me?

Choosing the right bike can be a nerve-wracking experience but here are some things to consider that will make the process a little easier.

What is your main requirement?

  1. Comfort
  2. Strength/Weight Limit
  3. Electric
  4. Price

1. Comfort

If your main requirement is comfort, we have a few options based on your own personal needs.

Do you want a bike that you sit in an upright position?

If you want to sit in an upright position our Time of your Life bike would be the best choice for you.

Are you ready to start exercising again?
Looking for something that’s easy to do and doesn’t exhaust you?
Safe but not boring?
That will consistently keep you active and healthy?  Relax, you’ve found it.

The Time of Your Life 3.0 is designed and built with the specific needs of big people in mind. It’s everything you’ve been asking for: strength, comfort, convenience, easy to use, and fun.

The secret is in the design of the frame, which is built with the pedals slightly advanced on the bike, allowing you to sit with your legs extended to a small degree. This riding position allows you to touch the ground when you stop, something that more traditional frames don’t permit. (With a traditional bike design, once you’ve stopped you need to either hop off the seat or tilt your bike to the side in order to touch the ground.)  With the Time of Your Life 3.0 it’s as simple as braking and then putting your feet down, with no need to hop off.  This is ideal for people with balance issues or for those of us who are a little less coordinated with our bodies’ movements.  It makes riding a bicycle super easy, especially if it’s new to you (or new again).

Another popular and important aspect of this bike is the riding position.  You are seated upright, with no pressure on your wrists.  This slight difference in position can mean real relief for those who are uncomfortable with any wrist pressure, which is often found on traditional bicycle designs. It also just feels like a more natural position, seated as if you were on a chair.

Everyone wants to know about the seat, because who wants to get saddle sore? We use a super comfy saddle with multi-stage gel padding, as well as elastomer absorbers, which serve as shocks.  The result is a very comfortable ride on a saddle that looks not unlike those on other bikes.

Because this bike is really all about comfort, there are strong, weather-proof front and rear fenders, too.  You know, to keep you dry if you get caught riding in the rain.   And the tires they go over are big, providing a steady ride. You really don’t have to worry about anything.

The build of the Time of Your Life 3.0  is similar to our other Zize Bikes.  It has a custom chromoly steel frame and front fork, forged alloy shaft, and double bolted seat post. Its pedals are made with a forged alloy platform and a chromoly spindle and are perfect to accommodate bigger riders. Wheels include spokes made of professional quality stainless steel; extra-wide, double-wall alloy rims; wide tires with high thread count, and inner tubes with Slime sealant which repeatedly seals punctures like magic!

Our 8-speed internal gear system allows for plenty of range, is very simple to use, and requires zero maintenance.   The gears are enclosed in a hub, so you will no longer have problems with the chain falling off!  You can change gears in any position—while pedalling, while cruising, or from a complete stop—there’s nothing to coordinate here. These internal gears will make your every pedal cycle count and make your uphill rides energy efficient. You’ll get to the top without getting too exhausted or out of breath!

The Time of Your Life 3.0 is an ideal bike for anyone looking for an easy and comfortable way to bike.

Are you a taller rider?

Although most of our bicycles accommodate taller riders, the 29er Max 2.0 is specifically designed for a taller rider as it has slightly larger wheels than the other bicycles. (27.5 inches)

Our 29er Max is our best bike for health and getting in shape as it is the easiest to ride if you're taller. 29ers are built with extra-large wheels (1 ½” bigger than traditional bike wheels), which are typically designed by most bike companies strictly for mountain biking. The 29er Max 2.0 is designed as a cruiser, to provide stunning maneuverability and ease of riding. What this means for you is that you can take your bike anywhere you want to ride it, and it will provide you with smooth, comfortable, and fast riding on most terrains.

Super-Strong and Built to Last
Our 29er Max 2.0 is modeled directly on our top-selling New Leaf 2.0, using the front and rear Shimano disc brakes, a custom chromoly steel frame and front fork, forged alloy shaft, and a double bolted seat post. Its pedals are made with a forged alloy platform and a chromoly spindle, and are perfect to accommodate bigger riders. Wheels include spokes made of professional quality stainless steel; extra-wide, double-wall alloy rims; wide tires with high thread count, and inner tubes with Slime sealant which repeatedly seals punctures like magic!

Looking for comfort?
Between the high thread count, extra-wide tires and the very comfortable saddle, this bike will make sure that your enjoyment includes not only knowing you’re doing something great for your health, but also for your physical enjoyment.

Easy Maintenance
The 29er Max 2.0’s 8-speed internal gear system allows for plenty of range and it means no stress for you. Since the gears are enclosed in a hub, you will no longer have problems with chains falling off, and you can climb hills with ease. You can shift gears in any position—while pedaling, while cruising, or from a complete stop—nothing to coordinate here. The internal gears will make your every push count and make your uphill rides energy-efficient. Not needing to oil your chain after rides also means it’s zero maintenance, another way it makes it easy to stay healthy and keep up with all the demands on your time.

Have Fun, Be Safe, and Get Fit at the Same Time.

29er Max 2.0 is an ideal bike for riders who want to increase their physical fitness and health and are somewhat comfortable on a bike. It is styled a little like a mountain bike on bigger wheels, built like a truck, and has the strength and comfort of a Zize Bike.

There’s no other bike on the market that is so ideally suited for heavy riders looking to get fit and have fun.
Due to the larger tires (which means a lower weight capacity), the weight limit for the 29er Max is a maximum of 450 pounds.

Want more space for your feet or thighs?

Our new model is so different from our other bicycles we can’t wait to hear your reviews!
Like all of our custom-designed and built Zize Bikes, these have an extreme weight capacity, aircraft-quality chromoly steel frames, hydraulic disc brakes, double-bolted seat posts, and custom-built wheels.
Unlike the other bikes, though, the Yonder has been upgraded in a number of ways that has, to put it mildly, created a herculean bike that will have you making excuses all day long about why you just have to keep riding. So what’s new?

Hub Size
The hub is that mechanism in the center of the wheels on your bike. Hub size matters! Why, you ask? It’s about the job they do. The front hub is designed to enable the wheel to spin–pretty straight forward. The rear hub is a bit more complicated, as its role is to allow the wheel to turn freely and to transfer the force of pedaling directly to that rear wheel.
On A New Leaf 3.0, the Time of Your Life 3.0, and the 29er Max 2.0, the front hub is 100 mm, and the rear hub is 135 mm. On the Yonder, however, we’ve increased the width and substantially increased wheel strength and steering responsiveness. The front hub is 135 mm and the rear is 170 mm. These size increases mean a greater response to your input. These are strong hubs, built to take a Zize rider all day long.

Q-Factor
One of the frequent requests we get for our bikes is for more space for your feet–the pedals often seem to be placed too closely together. In bike terminology, the stance width, where your feet rest on the pedals, is called the Q Factor. The typical solution for widening the Q Factor involves using pedal extenders, which, because of their tiny size, may not be the safest solution. (Most pedal extenders are pieces of steel that are screwed into the crank on one end and the pedal on the other, and are about ½ to 1” long.)

With the Yonder we’ve turned that methodology upside down. While our other amazing Zize Bikes have the larger of the standard bottom bracket widths of 73 mm, the Yonder has a 100 mm bottom bracket–which is over an inch bigger. This size increase makes a huge difference for the rider, because it is the steel bottom bracket itself that is 1.06” wider–not a couple of slips of steel that just make the pedals easier to use.

Okay, so, who cares about the Q Factor?  Actually, with your feet correctly placed, the wider Q Factor improves the pedaling bio-mechanics. It also distributes rider weight and torque over a wider area of the frame for increased strength and stability. And you just feel more comfortable. Those of us with bigger bodies have a wider stance, so it makes sense that we have a bigger Q Factor!

Frame
Our super-strong chromoly is showing up in bigger tubes on this bike. And with the wider rear hub, not only do you get the benefits of the bigger Q Factor, but you also get the benefits of that bigger build going all the way through the rear of the frame. This means, quite simply, more stability for you. Who wouldn’t love that?

Derailleurs
Our three other Zize Bikes all have internal gears, which we love because they’re easy and foolproof. But some riders want more gears, and they want to ride harder and faster–enter the Yonder. With a 10-speed rear hub and an easy-to-use trigger shifter, a wide range of gears is easily available for wherever your ride takes you!

Tires
Along with the benefits above, our new Yonder frame allows us to specify wider tires that have more air volume than standard tires. These wider tires distribute the load of the bike and rider over a bigger area, giving better traction and comfort.

We put a small green dot level in the wheel reflector which means our workmen 100% check the wheel quality in the assembly line.

These are the highlights of what’s changed. What always stays the same is our commitment to your safety, comfort, and fun.
